Neuroscience in Coaching and Mentoring

Coaching and mentoring are critical leadership and management competencies and employees are asking more of it.

The Neuroscience, Coaching and Mentoring programme offers prospective students an opportunity (and competitive edge) to study basic neuroscience, coaching and mentoring at UWC. On completion, students have the opportunity to become an internationally accredited coach and mentor through the ILM (www.i-l-m). It also carries 18 CPD points with SIOPSA. All at no extra cost!

Structure of the programme 

  • Introduction to basic neuroscience

Certification

Certificate of Competence will only be issued to those participants who successfully meet the assessment criteria. The Certificate will be issued by the University of the Western Cape in accordance with the rules of the university.

Duration

  • Nine months or 176 hours
  • Classroom training (42hrs) 
  • Assignment and feedback on assignment (25hrs)
  • Coaching and evidence of coaching and mentoring hours, log signed by client (24hrs)
  • One tutorial session (4hrs)
  • Coach supervision (4hrs)
  • Self-study – prescribed workbook (12hrs)
  • Self-study – journals (9hrs)
  • Preparation and presentation of personal development plan (8hrs)

Admission requirements 

  • Minimum: Matric Certificate with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience. Potential candidates should be working for an organisation.
