How to Manage a Busy Lifestyle

Having a busy lifestyle means you are mostly filling your day being “productive” or just being busy.  Mostly, very busy schedules goes hand-in-hand with not delegating enough because you don’t think others will do it the way you can. This includes friends and family life. Managing your time when living a busy life is important.

Managing a busy lifestyle means you are effectively maintaining a balance and reducing stress. Here are some tips on how to do just that.

1. Monitor your time

Make sure you are not wasting any time or prioritising unimportant things. Set specific time constraints on all of the things you need to do. Set reminders for all your tasks. Create a daily planner. Give each task a time limit. Block out distractions. Establish routine.

2. Plan strategically

Before you start something, strategically plan how you will complete it and what you need to do. Having a plan instead of diving straight in makes tasks a lot less daunting. Planning helps you see in advance those things that can help you achieve your goal. More importantly it helps you to see those things that can prevent you from achieving your goal. Planning strategically can also help you to be accountable for what you do.

3. Divide tasks

Dividing one task into smaller tasks can make them easier to obtain. Taking on a big task may be more difficult, so taking on the big task and dividing it into smaller tasks might be a lot easier. Dividing tasks can help you be more productive and efficient.

4. Prioritise your health

Be sure to consume nutritious food for energy. Be physically active and get a healthy amount of sleep. Taking care of your physical health directly affects your mental health and your performance.  If you don’t prioritise wellness for yourself first, you’re more likely to experience burnout, stress, fatigue, and overwhelm which affects your relationships both at home and at work.

5. Only accept what you can handle

Don’t take on work you do not have the capacity for. This will only put more strain on you and disappoint the person asking the work of you. Having enough time to complete tasks to the best of your ability is better than accepting more than you can take on and not being able to finish well.

Manage your busy lifestyle. We all get 24 hours a day and managing it well will free up your capacity. Plan, prioritise and only do as much as you are capable of doing.
