Dr Charlene Nel is one of the best teachers/presenters I have had the pleasure of learning from. Her teaching style was excellent. The use of practical examples helped me a lot with my understanding. There was a good balance between theory and practical work. These skills will help me when dealing with employees from an employee relations perspective. It will also assist me in changing the dynamics within our department. My employer will have the benefit of having a coach and mentor that will assist them when needed. This will assist me in my goal of helping others. It has also opened up the possibility of this being a 2nd source of income.

What I enjoyed most was learning what my shortcomings are – advising! I love learning that I need to ask better questions and LISTEN empathetically. I feel like I can have much better relations with my personal + professional space. I will be using all these new methods in my new role next year. Thank you!!!!!

I have recently completed a Women in Leadership Course at Said Business School, Oxford University through UWC and I can tell you that what we learnt through the Neuroscience Course with Prof Heyns-Nell was not only current, but also cutting edge. I passed that course at the top of my class and I do credit what I had learnt through the Neuroscience course for my success.

The subjects covered were more than relevant and these skills will be invaluable for me upon application, personal and otherwise. What did I enjoy most? The fact that we were challenged and taken out of our comfort zones, e.g the drawings. I have benefited far more that I have expected in my own development and I am sure that these skills will equip me to be an asset for the institution. More insight into the value of this programme could have been shared campus wide, beforehand.

This course (Neuroscience in Coaching and Mentoring) is an absolute value add to broaden one’s perspective. The tools and knowledge can be used to advantage both professional and personal engagements, leadership capabilities and useful in relationship management
The course was very well presented and articulated. I want to congratulate Dr. Charlene Heynes and the effort she put into the workshops and coaching/mentoring. We need more of these in our workplaces to change the narrative of traditional leadership..

The coaching and mentoring course offered by the Neuroscience for Business was invaluable. It provided a very good foundation for coaching and mentoring, in a very concise way. The course caters for various learning preferences (audio and visual) and the fact that it can be done online and at one’s own pace, one can really tailor it to one’s needs. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to complete the course and look forward to making an impact with my newfound qualification, knowledge and skills.

Highly recommended to any individual wanting to become a certified coach and mentor.

Recommend for any project looking to develop potential mentors and coaches for student orientated programmes.

Extremely professional and emotionally understanding throughout both the coaching and mentoring process and the course itself.

Individuals should be willingly prepared to put in the necessary effort, as the course is thorough in developing quality coaches and mentors.

The course is of an exceptional high standard. It provided me with the skills to Coach four UWC staff members and Mentor a further four staff members. Many of these staff members asked whether I would be willing to continue well beyond the initial eight sessions as they found their professional and personal development improved as a result of the Coaching and Mentoring.

Dr. Charlene Heyns-Nell delivered the course with great skill, insight and knowledge. I missed one tutorial session due to work commitments. While I hoped she would accept that I would miss one session she insisted that I attend a one-on-one tutorial session with her. This was done at her office over one day.
The coaching sessions with her was invaluable and provided me with clarity on my development plan and questions I had regarding the models and whether I understood it properly. Her willingness to assist whenever I asked for guidance and her support was a tremendous help. She was very clear of the high standard she expected of all attendees, the fact that we had to continually practice the new skills we learnt in the tutorial and coaching sessions and deliver assignments of high quality that would meet international standards. I would gladly recommend others to attend Dr Heyns-Nell’s course in Neuroscience in Coaching and Mentoring.

This was one of the best courses that I have attended in a very long while. It was of world class standards and top quality. I would highly recommend it. I have learnt so much about coaching and mentoring in the workplace. The course has been relevant and assisted me in the workplace. It has helped me with my development and I am still benefiting from the course. I continuously use the coaching and mentoring methodology in my faculty with my clients. This was an intense course and was highly assessed by one of our prestige professors, namely Professor Juliana Smith. Both Prof Juliana and Dr Charlene took the time to assist me and other delegates whenever we needed assistance in terms of assignments and they would even arrange tutorials to assists us with how assignments should be delivered. This was no “Micky Mouse” course but it was assessed extremely well. A programme I would highly recommend.
