Brain-based Social Styles Assessment ™
Designed to assess individual personality traits and behaviours, to understand self and others at work, socially and within families
Social Styles Underpinned by Neuroscience
Brain-based Social Styles refer to different ways that people typically interact, communicate, behave in social and professional settings. Each Social Style has a particular area of speciality. You may find some of your traits in another Social Style, or that you may be borderline between two styles. Everyone has a secondary social style to his or her primary style. Our Brain-based Social Styles™ Assessment includes the neurological aspect of each style. Neuroscience offers valuable insights into how different Social Styles emerge and how our interactions, communication, decision-making, thought patterns and emotions are influenced. By understanding your brain’s role in social behaviour, we have a better understanding for why people exhibit particular Social Styles, and how these styles can influence personal and professional relationships.
- Reliability of scale = Cronbach Alpha 0.70 (acceptable which is adequate for research purposes)
- Validity of scale 1. Responsiveness and Assertiveness = 0.49 which is moderate; 2. Versatility = 0.65 which is strong
**Cronbach’s alpha (α) is a statistic used to measure the internal consistency or reliability of a scale; how closely related a set of items are as a group. Validity is a statistic used to measure how well a test or assessment actually measures what it claims to measure. Unlike reliability (which is about consistency), validity is about accuracy and meaningfulness.
Four Different Primary Styles
Who is this for?
The Brain-based Social Styles model is for anyone who interacts with others regularly and wants to improve understanding, influence, and collaboration. It’s used primarily to help people understand and adapt to different communication and interaction styles, both at work and within families. It is best suited for professionals in the workplace, i.e managers, team members, salespeople, and customer service representatives use to communicate more effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. The foundation of social styles is based on four styles: Analytics, Expressives, Amiables and Drivers.
Typical Analytic
Analytics are precise and they are experts in the area of techniques. Analytics have a strong sense of duty and obligation. Driven by a forceful work ethic, play does not usually come naturally to them. Analytics are natural givers and often take on the role and tend to work. They will save and store for the future, believing that they cannot save too much. They are steadfast, reliable and dependable.
Typical Expressive
Expressives are impulsive people who love to socialise. They like to try the new and different, and enjoy commitment. Expressives have happy and charismatic spirits and can endure hardships and trials easier than other Social Styles. Discomfort is just new experience that they know will pass. They love to reminisce and enjoy belonging to social organisation. They are friendly, generous and enthusiastic.
Typical Amiable
Amiables are known to be likeable and supportive of others. They work well with others, promote harmony, like to work with words and often influence larger groups through writing. Often they place unrealistic expectations on themselves and other people. They seek deep meaning in relationships, experiences and prefer interaction to action. Amiables are compassionate with those who may be hurting. They demonstrate patience and are good listeners.
Typical Driver
Drivers have a strong compulsion to perform and be in control. They take pleasure in almost any kind of work because it involves activity, therefore they dislike idleness. They desire to control and master most things they do. They speak with precession and little redundancy. Drivers appreciate new ideas, challenges and competition. They have a passion for knowledge and are constantly searching to answer the “why” of life.
